In this section you will find a collection of real life stories shared by mostly grassroots organisations across the globe who are directly working with women in communities. These are stories of women and girls being denied or restricted access to abortion services. The stories span the vast geographical reach of all continents highlighting the similarity of circumstances, attitudes and challenges faced by women and girls in seemingly different contexts. The majority of stories are coming from the countries where women and girls experience countless legal, economic, cultural and physical barriers when trying to access abortion services.
This barrieres and their consequences constitute a series of human rights violations, among others they violate women’s right to health, the right to life, the right to bodly integrity, the right to information, the right to live free of violence and the right to not be discriminated.
