The Association for Gender Equality and Liberty (A.L.E.G.), based in Sibiu, Romania is marking the International Campaign for Women’s Right to Safe Abortion on September 15th, as part of the Gender Equality Festival titled Breaking Prejudices, with a screening of the documentary “Nascuti la comanda. Decreteii” (Born to Order. Children of the Decree), telling the unveiled story of children born after the decree banning abortion in Romania, with heart-wrenching testimonials of women and medical personnel, followed by a debate with young people, where Irina Costache, ASTRA Network advisory board member and Camelia Proca, director of A.L.E.G., will lead a discussion on Romanian politicians’ recent pressures for increased birth rates in the context of the ICPD processes.
